Rachel & Peter Haslett, Apache, Nico and Grips
|
Rachel has been involved with dogs since 1983, training and competing with her rough collies in CKC obedience, conformation and involved in the beginnings of agility in Quebec City at that time. Moved to NB in 1990 and continued to train and compete with dogs, but looked for more challenge and teamed up with a couple others to start up FAST. Peter has been involved in Schutzhund training since early 90's.
These last few years, our other passion (or obsession) with Schutzhund has required more of our time and attention, spending hours each week training for this dog triathlon (tracking, obedience and protection) and competing at National level. Not to forget that we are also blessed with 2 toddlers running around the house. We do hope to actively return to agility in the next few years, likely with a couple junior handlers in tow.
Our 3 German Shepherds are all German imports. Apache is now semi-retired and the kids' dog (his choice); his temperament is flawless and his dedication to the kids is unbelievable. Nico competed at the German Nationals before coming to live with us and competed at the Canadian Nationals with Peter for the past 2 years; he is a bundle of energy, always gives 120%, often with a mind of his own to keep us on our toes. Grips is Rachel's new dog, a top showline bred shepherd with excellent working ability, and the sweetest dog to live with. We will soon be welcoming a little girl to the group to keep them all in line! (Pictured are Apache and Grips with the kids.)
